Julie Burke oversees all aspects of the financial operations of Rotary International and its charitable arm, The Rotary Foundation. Her responsibilities include financial management, financial planning and analysis, treasury and investment, corporate reporting, accounting services, and risk management.

 

Burke was previously chief financial officer at two large nonprofit organizations after spending 10 years in public accounting at KPMG. Burke graduated from Marquette University with a degree in accounting and has a master's degree in health services management from Webster University. She is a certified public accountant and a certified global management accountant.

In 2004, Carolyn was laying on the floor of her father’s living room listening to him talk about his pending year as Centennial Governor for his Rotary district. She recalls thinking, “what is this all about?” Inspired by his words, she joined Rotary and within months, attended her first Rotary International Convention in Chicago. She says that it was the start of something beautiful in her life.

 

Fast forward to today, not only is she an 18-year member, but she has also made working for Rotary her career, joining the RI staff as the sole Canadian based employee for the past 11 years. She has witnessed wonderful generosity over the years, as members seek to align their vision for a better world with Rotary’s programs and discover how their major gift or planned estate gift can truly make a difference.

 

Today she continues to share her love for Rotary with the 11 Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) students she has hosted over the years, her Father-still a member, her Husband Richard-also a member, her sister Debra-also a member and her two daughters-both alumni of RYE. Life is good and she remains grateful to Rotary for the many opportunities.

As the Annual Giving Officer for Zone 28, Edina helps develop fundraising strategies to support the Annual Fund by providing counsel and resources to district and club fundraising volunteers.  Edina works with Rotary members in Zone 28 to help motivate and inspire other Rotary members to support The Rotary Foundation. She works with leaders in clubs and districts to raise awareness about the Annual Fund, The Rotary Foundation, and the good we can do by supporting these causes, attracting new donors, and engaging current donors.

 

Edina joined Rotary in 2014 as a member of the Rotary Support Center team.  Her experience within the Rotary Support Center has helped build her knowledge of all things Rotary.  She earned a Bachelor of Science in Technical Management from DeVry University and an MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management.

With Rotary since 2016, CDS Senior Officer Sophie Dangerfield is passionate about training governors to navigate their DGND, DGN, DGE, and DG years with ease, by being or finding the resource they need. She currently shares her knowledge and expertise with 39 districts, including almost all of Canada, and the Northeast – and a part of the Midwest – of the USA. Sophie and the CDS team offer strategic guidance, personalized service, and training on board policy and Rotary constitutional documents, interpreting them for each club, district, or regional situation. CDS handles guidance on prevention of, and process navigation for, cases of adult harassment and disputes, as well as empowerment through diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. CDS is at the forefront of operational procedures, and manage the creation of Rotary, satellite, Rotaract, and merged clubs, name changes, resignations, as well as tax determinations and incorporations for districts and clubs. Some of Sophie’s areas of specialized interest are the training of incoming leaders, governor financial responsibilities, and support of francophone clubs.

 

A native French speaker, Sophie obtained a Baccalauréat A1 in Languages, Mathematics, and Philosophy in Paris, France, a BA Honours in Theatre Arts & English Literature from Goldsmiths’ College, University of London, England, and an RSA Cambridge teaching certificate in the UK. Born in Casablanca, Morocco, she is French, English, Canadian, and American, and feels she truly fits in with Rotary International. Sophie lives in Chicago with her husband and four cats and is an avid Lake Michigan swimmer. In her spare time, she runs a school for vintage dances, offering instruction and choreography for large festivals and charity events.

Nobuko Andrews - Regional Communication Specialist, Asia

Nobuko Andrews joined Rotary International in 2010. As a regional communication specialist of the Global Communications Department, Nobuko specializes in simultaneous interpretation (Japanese and English), localization, content creation, social media and other communication related tasks targeted to Japan. Over the past ten plus years, she has deepened her collaboration with Japanese Rotary members by utilizing her cross-cultural background and knowledge. Before joining Rotary, she worked for the Consulate General of Japan in Chicago as a public relations specialist. She has M.A. in political science from University of Toronto. She resides in Evanston with her husband and daughter.

 

Eiko Terao - Regional Communication Specialist, Asia
